Bernice was a high school pupil when she got pregnant from her 19-year old boyfriend. He lived in the neighborhood. The man decided not to support his baby mother and their little daughter. So, he had disappeared from Bernice’s life.

She welcomed a daughter Ashley at the age of 15. After that Bernice had to forget about all those things teenagers are interested in – studying and partying – and immediately become an adult.
